We've all been there — that frustrating moment when you realise you have to ask someone to repay you. We get it; it's not the best situation to be in.
You start thinking about what to say and when to say it, hoping to avoid any awkwardness for you and your friend. However, soon the realisation hits that there's no escaping the embarrassment!
What if we told you that you could get your money back without even asking for it? Yes, no need to say a word! Our mobile banking app has you covered with two features designed to save you from the trouble of chasing down your money.
In this article, we'll delve into both features and discuss a few situations where they can come to your rescue.
- Payment requests: Your lifesaver in delicate situations
If you're looking for a way to request your money back, the payment request feature on our mobile banking app allows you to send transfer requests easily without sharing your account details with others.
Picture this: A friend asked you to lend them money for an unexpected expense, promising to pay you back soon. Being the helpful friend that you are, you agreed. And so, the wait for your money to find its way back into your account began. As days turned into weeks and weeks into months, you started wondering if your friend's concept of 'soon' differs from yours!
Before it gets awkward and you put yourself in a situation where you feel like you're begging for your money back, why not send your friend a payment request through our mobile banking app?
How does the payment request feature work?
Simply log into our mobile banking app, tap on "Payment" on the main screen, and choose "Request Payment" from the list. You'll be directed to select the account where you want the money deposited. Enter the amount you want to request, tap on "Create payment request", and share the link with anyone you want from your contacts or through the social media channel you prefer.
Once the payment request link reaches the person who owes you money, they need to tap on it. This will take them to a screen in our mobile app displaying the amount to be paid. All they have to do is approve the payment request.
Just like that, you'll get your money without asking for it! For a detailed guide on sending a payment request, click here.
- Split bills: Others may forget, but Bank al Etihad doesn't
If you've covered a payment or bill on your card and want to split it with others, our split bills feature on our mobile banking app lets you divide the transaction amount among the people you want. You can then send them payment links, allowing them to transfer their share directly to your account without having to ask them.
Here's a common scenario: Suppose you've gone to dinner with five colleagues after work. When the bill arrives, you cover the entire amount using your card, expecting each of them to pay you back later. However, a week has passed, and you're still waiting!
Instead of chasing down each person and reminding them, why not use our mobile banking app to split the amount you paid and send a friendly reminder via a payment link? It's also the ideal solution for that friend who said, "Pay, and I'll pay you back."
How does the split bills feature work?
After logging into our mobile banking app, scroll down to access your transactions and choose the one you want to split. You'll be directed to the transactions screen. Tap on "Split Bill" from the displayed options, pick the account you want the money deposited in, and tap on "Split with multiple contacts". You can select the people and adjust the amount each person owes before finalising the process.
Your request will be sent to those you selected, and all they have to do is approve it. For more details on splitting payments, click here.
